Vygotsky is a perspicacious reader. His analysis of the forms of fable, short story, and tragedy are profoundly illuminating. His analysis of Hamlet rivals anything I've ever read on the subject. The arguments Vygotsky sets forth in developing the psychology of art flow with life.
